Characteristics of Kabuki
*Unique makeup and costume
Don't miss the characteristic makeup style 'kumadori', which expresses emotions and role types, as well as gorgeous costume and props.
*Dynamic direction and music
The power of 'mie' (an imposing pose struck at the critical moments which has the same effect as close-up in video), spectacular fight scenes performed to live music and stylized beauty.
*All the characters are played by men
Both male roles ('tachiyaku') and female roles ('onnagata') are brilliantly performed by male actors with refined professional technique.
